Arsenal's star talent Max Dowman has been told to consider a move to Celtic in January. Dowman looks to be one of the brightest young talents in Europe, let alone England, already showing an ability to make an impact at first-team level at the age of 16.

But the reality of it is that Arsenal have an ultra-tealented squad, and Mikel Arteta is in the market for titles and only titles. Even with a sensational talent like Dowman, Arteta cannot make exceptions when it comes to choosing the best possible players, whether that's the starting XI or the bench.

Dowman hasn't been a reular so far this season, and that is unlikely to change when things ramp up in the second half of the season. That could mean Dowman is sent out on loan to make sure he is developing at the highest possible level, given Arsenal will not want to risk wasting what is clearly a top talent.

And former Premier League striker Emile Heskey believes Celtic would be a good destination for the youngster to develop the physical side of his game.

“Max Dowman going out on loan? I could see huge benefits, but you'd have to pick the right team for him to go and play for, taking a real hands-on approach,” said Heskey. “That kid is the real deal, so you need to ensure he gets the right game time and environment in a structure that suits him.”

“The sky's the limit for him. Even if he went on loan in January, I think by next season he could return and be a regular at Arsenal. The only question is, where do you want to play him, and what position suits him best?

“Celtic or Rangers would be an interesting move. It'd be tough, but as the two biggest clubs up there, their style of football would likely match what Arsenal want to do, and he'd get regular game-time. It would be a physical test as a young English lad, but it might help him grow.”

Celtic could certainly do with an attacking talent like Dowman to keep their current options on their toes. Martin O'Neill has struggled to get the best out of his attackers in recent weeks, and so it's not out of the question that more talent is added in January to mix things up.

Adding a player like Dowman without having to commit to a big fee would be a huge win.
