5 Celtic players with the most ground to make up after the international break

Celtic are still some time away from returning from the international break, which has only just begun, but some players already need to start thinking about their return to action.

The Bhoys are on a rotten run of three straight defeats, and they are going to have to hit the ground running after the break,even with a tough fixture list. And there are some players who need to step up more than most when they return to action after a poor run of form.

Kieran Tierney

Tierney has put in some real poor performances over the last couple of weeks. He has been defensively poor on the left, making some strange decisions for an experienced player. Celtic need better from such an important player, and he is certainly capable of it.

Callum McGregor

Another experienced player out of sorts, McGregor has got to do better in the midfield. We knew he was going to lack legs this season due to his age, but McGregor has the experience to come out on top positionally.

He hasn't shown that in the last couple of weeks, allowing the midfield to be dominated, and while that is certainly not all his fault - he should have been given a better midfield partner this summer - it doesn't excuse how poor his performances have been during this run. McGregor has ground to make up, with fans starting to notice his sub-par display.

Luke McCowan

McCowan actually wasn't too bad against Rangers despite him starting in a strange spot. But he still has a lot of ground to make up if he wants to impress fans and O'Neill. The midfielder is near the bottom of the depth chart, and he needs to start climbing it if he wants to avoid what could be a January exit.

Kasper Hogh

Hogh hasn't been good enough. Put aside that one hat-trick, and it's hard to see what he has really offered. Some decent hold-up play, fine, but not a lot of it. The Dane has been poor in front of goal, and his positioning has been completely sub-standard. Hogh needs to step up and quickly.

Sebastian Tounekti

It's the same old complaints when it comes to Tounekti. The winger's deliveries remain a problem, with his final product still lacking. He needs to find some consistency if he wants to start, especially with Yang Hyun-jun coming back after the break, and with Jota on his way back, due to return at the end of next month.
