El Hadji Malick Diouf says Brentford is the perfect place for him to develop after completing his move from West Ham United.

The Senegal international left-back has signed a five-year contract with the Bees, with the club holding an option to extend the deal by a further year.

The 21-year-old admitted he was excited to complete the move, worth around £40m, and says he will give everything for the club.

“I’m really happy, really happy to be here at this amazing club,” Diouf said.

“I was looking forward to it. Now I’m here and I’m ready to give everything.”

Diouf revealed conversations with head coach Keith Andrews and Brentford’s staff played a key role in his decision to join the club.

“I think they gave me a good plan,” he added.

“I spoke with the manager and he gave me a good plan for how I can develop, so I think it’s a good place for me to be.

“They’ve seen things in me that maybe I didn’t see myself. They’re looking forward to helping me and I’m really happy with the plan. I’m looking forward to continuing my progression.”

The defender also admitted he had regularly watched Brentford last season and believes his athletic qualities make him well suited to Andrews’ side.

“I watched them a lot last season,” Diouf said.

“The team is very athletic and I have that profile as well, so I think I can adapt well to the team.”

And Diouf has already set his sights high at Brentford, refusing to rule out a title challenge during his time at the club.

“Why not win the league?” he said.

“I want to have a big role here. I think you have to be patient and try to grow.”
