Video: Mancini responds to allegations of double Man City contract

Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City contract is among the 115 possible breaches of Premier League financial rules, but the Italy national team coach insists that ‘it’s not an issue that concerns me.’

UK sources reported over the weekend that a four-year investigation into Manchester City’s finances ended with the club being found guilty of 114 of 115 charges.

Among them is Mancini’s contract during his time at the Etihad Stadium, and the Azzurri boss spoke about it for the first time at a press conference on Sunday.

“It’s not an issue that concerns me. It’s nothing new because this matter has been discussed for the last four or five years,” he said.

“Manchester City has not been found guilty, and the alleged double contract is not my concern. It’s their issue, not mine.”

It is claimed that Mancini received a €1.69m net salary under his regular contract, while also receiving an additional payment disguised as a ‘consultancy fee’ from Al Jazira, the Abu Dhabi club also owned by Sheikh Mansour.

The consultancy fee amounted to €2.03m net, reportedly in exchange for what appeared to be just four days of work per year.
