Two defeats and a late surprise: thrilling results in the Premier League
Exciting round
Saturday's Premier League fixtures served up a run of tight, hard-fought battles. Crystal Palace fell to Everton (0-2), Sunderland slipped to defeat against Ipswich Town (1-2), and Leeds edged Nottingham Forest with a single goal in the closing minutes.
Everton took a one-goal lead into the break at Hill Dickinson. A second goal early in the second half stretched the advantage, and the Toffees saw it out for a deserved 2-0 win.
Ipswich struck first against Sunderland through a goal in the 24th minute. The visitors hit back with a free-kick in the 39th, and the game stayed level deep into stoppage time. Then, in the 90th minute, Ipswich found a second to snatch a 2-1 win.
Leeds and Forest looked destined for stalemate. Neither side could break through for most of the afternoon. Up stepped Leeds in the 88th minute, a direct free-kick settling it for a late 1-0 victory and all three points.
