Tottenham vs. Everton: Predicted starting 11 as Spurs seek their first win
Tottenham Hotspur have endured a difficult start to the 2026/27 Premier League season, losing their first two matches against Brentford and Newcastle United by a combined 5-0 score line before drawing Nottingham Forest last weekend 0-0.
This weekend, Everton beckon, and Spurs will be hoping that the same team they beat to survive Premier League relegation last season on Matchday 38 will yield them their first win of the new campaign. Here is a look at how Roberto De Zerbi could line his team up.
Defense: GK Antonin Kinsky - LB Destiny Udogie - CB Micky van de Ven - CB Jan Paul van Hecke - RB Pedro Porro
There is no question that this is going to be the best defense for Tottenham going forward, and while Marcos Senesi gave Spurs something to think about on Matchday 1 when he outplayed Jan Paul van Hecke, the Dutch international has improved since then and looked amazing last weekend as a pair with his national teammate Micky van de Ven vs. Nottingham Forest. But the real key will be a fully fit Destiny Udogie, who is hoping to play more than 60 minutes soon.
Midfield: DM Rodrigo Bentancur - DM Sandro Tonali - AM Mateus Fernandes
James Maddison should be able to play this weekend after dislocating his shoulder on Matchday 1 as a second half substitute in the brutal loss to Brentford, but he has not started a game for Tottenham since his ACL tear at the end of the 2024/25 season. After this latest injury, Spurs will likely ease him back, with Mateus Fernandes resuming his duties as a makeshift No. 10 following Conor Gallagher's second poor performance in that role vs. Forest. But this midfield trio should be the strength of the team, as all three have looked great in their last starts, with Sandro Tonali improving greatly last weekend.
Forwards: LW Savio - CF Omar Marmoush - RW Mohammed Kudus
Although Roberto De Zerbi could potentially start Savio as an inverted winger and leave off Mohammed Kudus, who did not look sharp at all last weekend, Mathys Tel has been so terrible in the last two games that it would be a shock if he starts again. Omar Marmoush, Kudus, and Savio are Spurs best attacking trio right now, no doubt, and fans will be excited to see Savio's first start of the season now that he should be close to fully fit.
