Tottenham are prepared to bid €65million (£56m) for Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, according to reports in Spain.
Spurs have already spent almost £230million this summer, and within that they parted with £52million for Jan Paul van Hecke. He is one of three defenders signed, along with the free transfer additions of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson.
It would appear Roberto De Zerbi is done with improving his back line, particularly as he's revealed a desire to make some additions in the attack now.
Indeed, he said: “Yes, the target now is to complete the attacking positions. We want the first level, because we have already important players.
“But to start a new project we need another couple of important players.”
But reports in Spain suggest one more defender, Barcelona's Kounde, is in sight.
It's suggested Tottenham are prepared to make a bid of €65million (£56m) for the versatile defender, who's capable both as a right-back and a centre-back.
Further to that, Spurs are believed to be looking favourably on Kounde due to his ability to play in both positions.
The figure is said to align with the fee Barcelona would be willing to accept for the departure of the Frenchman.
Tottenham have done good business
Should Kounde join Tottenham, he'd share the back line with Dutch defender Micky van de Ven.
The Spurs star is happy with the business that has been done at the club so far this summer.
He said: “It’s really good that you can see the club has made some changes. They have brought a really good new manager, in my opinion, and some really good new signings. You can see the club has new ambition. It’s something that’s really important for players that have been there for a long time.
“Some really good signings for us. Unbelievable players that can bring a lot to our team.
“I know that for sure. It’s going to be different compared to the former manager we had last season. It’s going to be more with the ball, more playing football. I think it’s going to be more enjoyable for people to watch, playing offensive football.”
