Tottenham Move for Savinho Signals £300m Summer Spending Push
Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Manchester City winger Savinho in a deal reported to be worth £65 million.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are set to finalise a move for the 22-year-old Brazil international after tracking him since last summer. The transfer forms part of Tottenham’s squad-strengthening plans under Roberto De Zerbi following an underwhelming campaign that ended in a 17th-place finish.
Savinho scored one Premier League goal in 24 appearances for City last season. Despite his difficult campaign, Tottenham believe he can play a key role in De Zerbi’s plans as the club looks to add quality and depth in wide areas.
Tottenham’s summer spending could continue
Tottenham have already spent more than £200 million this summer and are reportedly still able to invest further before the transfer window closes. Savinho’s arrival, if completed, could take the club’s expenditure beyond £300 million.
The Brazilian also added to speculation over his future with an Instagram story featuring a suitcase and a message indicating he was going away for fun. Supporters interpreted the post as a possible sign that he was preparing to leave Manchester.
City are reportedly exploring potential replacements, with Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye among the players on their shortlist. Tottenham have also been linked with the 18-year-old, alongside Aston Villa and RB Leipzig.
Further attacking additions are possible
Savinho may not be Tottenham’s final attacking signing of the summer. De Zerbi is reportedly targeting at least two more forward players to increase competition and provide greater tactical flexibility.
De Zerbi has also held talks with Mathys Tel over his future. As reported by Football London, the manager has assured the 21-year-old that he remains a key part of Tottenham’s plans for the 2026-27 season, even as the club considers further attacking options.
Tottenham have already brought in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke during a busy summer as De Zerbi continues to reshape his squad.
