Tottenham are are in direct talks with the camp of Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, reports insider Fabrizio Romano.
Spurs are now looking into sorting their attacking line for the season. Roberto De Zerbi has made big signings in defence and midfield, with around £230million spent, and the final third is the last area to be added to.
The boss has confirmed he wants a couple of new players for that area, and recently suggested a "bomba" signing was coming.
Tottenham have been linked with Liverpool's Gakpo in recent weeks, and Romano states Spurs are in direct talks with the Dutchman's camp over a move.
A deal will depend on the decision made by the Reds, as the door was closed on Gakpo's sale in July, but Romano suggests the right financial package could get it done.
He also states the pursuit of Bradley Barcola could have a say in the Liverpool forward's future.
That suggests that should the Reds part with the £145million or thereabouts that Paris Saint-Germain want for their winger, they could perhaps sell Gakpo.
Gakpo open to exit
Reports elsewhere have suggested that the Dutchman is open to an exit from Liverpool as he's not willing to be a bit-part player, and teenage winger Rio Ngumoha could usurp him of his position on the left flank at Anfield.
Tottenham seem willing to offer Gakpo a starting spot in their side, while there's a suggestion that the Reds might not.
With that said, though, Hugo Ekitike will be sidelined for months and Liverpool are reported to want Gakpo to fill that gap while he's out of action.
As a result, Liverpool are not believed to be open to his sale, and are planning for the season with him in the squad.
Whether Barcola's potential signing changes anything remains to be seen. He'll cost a huge sum and if Liverpool need to get rid of a player in order to ensure they can sign him, it's easy to see how Gakpo could be that man.
On the left wing, he might well not be the starter, and he's a saleable asset that Tottenham could pay good money for.
