Thomas Tuchel confirms injury details for Arsenal player as England hit by more issues
Ezri Konsa has picked up an injury on England duty, and has gone back to Arsenal for treatment, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed.
It’s been a bad England camp for injuries.
A cluster of five players denied the original call-up, citing existing fitness problems. Since this extended break began three weeks ago, there have been multiple further withdrawals. The big news came earlier today, with the brutal news that Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott had picked up a “serious thigh problem” on his international debut, and would now miss perhaps two months.
But that’s been followed by further confirmation of issues from within the camp. Thomas Tuchel has been talking about Arsenal defender Ezri Konsa, and revealed there was a problem there too.
Tuchel confirms Arsenal defender has returned to his club for treatment
“Ezri felt discomfort when he came into camp, played with it against Spain and it got a bit worse so he stayed in camp and tried everything for the match against Czechia and it came too soon,” Tuchel explained in quotes picked up by Hayters.
“He tried everything for the game in Croatia, got the green light and came through all the training sessions so was ready to play. Unfortunately, he got another hit on the quad and that caused a light trauma and we decided not to let him play through this pain. So he left camp to get treatment for both his issues now. I think nothing major but not worth the risk taking.”
It sounds like the defender will likely miss Arsenal’s game this weekend, but shouldn’t be out for much longer than that.
