‘They want…’: Man Utd fans make their feelings clear to Carrick with what they were heard singing in second half

Manchester United fans were pushing for Benjamin Sesko to get an earlier introduction during Sunday’s derby.

The Slovenian eventually entered the fray in the 67th minute, with United already trailing by a goal.

Sesko couldn’t extend goalscoring run vs Manchester City

Like the rest of his teammates, Sesko was unable to make an impact up front, but he will likely feel aggrieved that he wasn’t given the opportunity to do so when the score was tied.

Before Michael Carrick brought him on, the Old Trafford faithful were heard urging their manager to make the change.

“The Stretford End is chanting Sesko’s name again to the old Andy Cole song. Safe to assume they want him on,” said Samuel Luckhurst on Twitter/X.

Prior to the game, the 23-year-old had found the back of the net in his last two appearances with goals against Everton and Sabah.

Alas, it did come as a slight shock that he was then dropped for the derby, as Carrick deployed a front three of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Marcus Rashford.

It remains to be seen if he will stick with his selection, given United have now drawn and lost the last two league matches they’ve started together, for Sunday’s trip to Fulham.

United ended matchweek four in 13th place, and while it’s perhaps too early to really be concerned about how the side are shaping up, it’s safe to say fans are dissatisfied with how the beginning of the term has played out.

On Wednesday night, the Reds kick off their Carabao Cup campaign at home to notorious bogey opponents Brighton and Hove Albion.
