Raheem Sterling is braced for a departure from Chelsea before the transfer window closes, as per the latest from Sky Sports.
The Blues are currently in talks with his entourage in the bid to clear his name off their wage bill.
Permanent move the solution for Sterling
It's believed that the winger prefers a permanent fix to his troubles at Chelsea, and not a loan deal. The parties involved are in regular contact and keen on finalizing the transfer before Monday.
Sterling has been pictured training separately since August 2025 and remains surplus to requirements despite Liam Rosenior's appointment.
The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at Arsenal, finding the net just once in 28 games across all competitions. He hasn't made an appearance for the Blues since May 2024.
Fulham have shown interest in Sterling
Signed from Manchester City in 2022 for £47.5 million, Sterling has been on a £325,000-a-week contract and remains the highest earner in the club.
Fulham have been casting an eye on him, having been linked with him in the summer and active again this window. They could supply an exit route, although it remains to be seen if they will approach Chelsea amid their pursuit of Oscar Bobb and Ricardo Pepi from PSV Eindhoven.
West Ham were also keen on snapping up Sterling on loan, but the 82-time capped England international was quick to reject their offer.
Sterling has a chance to reignite his career
As he looks to engineer a move away from Stamford Bridge, a pay cut may be unavoidable, especially given his desire to remain in the capital.
Sterling is part of the 100-goal club in the Premier League, and the talent has never been in question. He has been a key cog in the legacy written by Pep Guardiola at Man City, with four league titles to his credit.
And although he was reduced to a fringe player at Arsenal, there's plenty he can offer for a team that provides sustained game time. Fulham, perhaps, could use his experience and presence in the box from left wing, with summer signing Kevin yet to score in the top-flight despite glimpses of spark.
