Spurs star could return from long-term absence against Newcastle as De Zerbi gives updates on several players

Mohammed Kudus could return to the Tottenham squad for Saturday’s clash with Newcastle United, Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed.

The Ghana international could make his comeback from injury from the bench having been out since January, with De Zerbi set to assess his condition ahead of the Premier League fixture.

“Maybe Kudus can come on the bench, we have to see,” De Zerbi said.

Micky van de Ven is also fit to feature, although it remains unclear whether he will start or come off the bench.

“Micky van de Ven is right to play, we have to understand if for the beginning or part of the game like Savio and Pedro (Porro),” he added.

Omar Marmoush is available and could also be handed a starting role against Newcastle after completing his move from Manchester City earlier this week.

“Marmoush is available to play, maybe also from the beginning of the game,” De Zerbi said.

There was further positive news for Spurs regarding Destiny Udogie, who returned to action and completed more than an hour against Charlton.

“Udogie is good news for us because he’s very important and he played well for 60 minutes, like was the plan,” De Zerbi said.

However, James Maddison remains a doubt after suffering pain in his left shoulder.

“James Maddison has not a big problem but he felt pain in his shoulder, the left shoulder, he’s working but I don’t know if he’s available,” De Zerbi said.

De Zerbi also addressed speculation surrounding Pape Matar Sarr’s future with the transfer window approaching its conclusion.

“Pape is good, we have to see in the last days of the transfer market what can happen with him,” he added.
