Chelsea have had a promising start to the season, but a bad result against Hull has frustrated fans and the team’s manager.

Chelsea’s draw with Hull yesterday was immensely frustrating.

Not only did the Blues drop points from a winning position in a game they should be winning, it also showed a repeat of past failings which we’ve seen time and again in recent years.

The manager has changed, many of the players have changed, yet the problem with “soft” defending, a lack of a strong mentality to overcome setbacks, and a general lack of leadership

Alonso bemoans Chelsea’s ongoing issues

“[This game] repeats some patterns that we are making,” a frustrated Alonso said.

“It will take time to fix them… when we get the lead you still need to be competing and not to give the chances so easily for them to come back, especially in the first goal, we can do much better.

“It was too soft to give them this hope because until then we were controlling, we were creating chances, but that momentum that we had changed the mood and the score of the game and it’s something that we need to be talking [about], we address and we will get better, but it’s having an impact on our performances at the moment.”

We’re very curious to see whether Alonso is able to solve this long running problem with time.

In other news…

Aston Villa are still apparently keen on signing Alejandro Garnacho next summer, despite a lack of minutes so far.

Xabi Alonso finally revealed some details about Marco Palestra’s injury which has kept him out since preseason. He’s almost back.
