Former Manchester City and Argentina forward Sergio Aguero has heaped the praise on a player he believes is 'Chelsea's best player'.

Aguero knows a thing or two about what it takes to make it in England's biggest league.

The now-retired 38-year-old enjoyed a trophy-littered decade at the Etihad, scoring 260 goals in 390 games in all competitions.

And the five-time Premier League winner believes the Blues have a genuine superstar on their hands.

Sergio Aguero heaps praise on 'amazing' Cole Palmer

Discussing Chelsea during a recent interview, Aguero highlighted Cole Palmer as the Blues' standout star.

"Chelsea are a dangerous team. I played with Cole Palmer and I admire him as a player. I think he is an amazing player," he told Stake (via Metro).

"When I was there, he didn't get many chances to play for City because there were many top-level players who were also in good form."

"His move to Chelsea was a wise step because he needed to play. In my opinion, he is the best player at Chelsea today. He can score or create a goal at any moment and make the difference."

Having come through Manchester City's youth academy, Palmer spent time in and around Aguero and the Blue Moon's first team before making the move to Stamford Bridge in 2023.

And Aguero, clearly still a big fan of his former team mate remains interested in the 24-year-old's development as he looks to guide Chelsea back into the Champions League.

Bournemouth doubts regardless of Palmer

Even though Aguero feels Xabi Alonso has an incredible talent in Palmer among his options, the Argentine fears the Blues will suffer defeat against Bournemouth when they return to Premier League action on October 10.

Chelsea will host the Cherries at Stamford Bridge next Saturday with Alonso looking to right the wrongs of the side's embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Brentford just before the current international break.

Aguero isn't confident Chelsea will get back to winning ways, though, despite having a frightening front three featuring Palmer, Joao Pedro and £117 million summer signing Morgan Rogers.

"The match will end in a 4-3 defeat. To maintain a strong attacking trio, you also need a reliable defensive structure behind it so the team doesn't suffer too much," he predicted.

Although it's unlikey, a win over Bournemouth could see Chelsea move as high as fourth in the table.

Of course, that's depending on other results, but Alonso will certainly be expecting to see a better showing than the one he witnessed away to the Bees three weeks ago.
