Premier League clubs once again dominated the transfer market this summer, with the division’s biggest deals alone pushing the spending past the billion mark.
Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United all feature in the top 10, with Enzo Fernandez’s €145m move from Chelsea to City leading the way.
The scale of the spending is huge even before the rest of the window is considered. The 10 transfers listed here add up to €1.1021billion, underlining just how aggressive Premier League recruitment became over the summer.
City were responsible for three of the biggest moves.
Fernandez tops the list at €145m, while Elliot Anderson cost €135m after leaving Nottingham Forest. Pep Guardiola’s side also spent €95m on Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, taking their combined outlay on those three players alone to €375m.
Chelsea made one of the window’s biggest statements by signing Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for €138m.
Liverpool also went well into nine figures, paying €125m for Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.
Tottenham were another major player in the market. Sandro Tonali joined from Newcastle for €108m, while Mateus Fernandes arrived from West Ham for €99m.
Spurs also signed Savinho from Manchester City for €87.7m, giving them three players inside the top 10.
Arsenal’s biggest move was Bruno Guimaraes, who left Newcastle for €87.5m, while Manchester United completed the list with Carlos Baleba’s €81.9m switch from Brighton.
