Iffy league form is blighting both Liverpool and Newcastle as they get ready to rumble at Anfield.
Slot's fallen champions have yet to win in the Premier League since the turn of the year with four draws and a 3-2 defeat at Bournemouth.
Newcastle have won one of their last six in the top flight and a haul of just two away wins is seriously denting their prospects of a Champions League return next season.
Both signed off impressive European group-stage schedules with good performances on Wednesday – the Reds smashed Qarabag 6-0 and Newcastle drew 1-1 at PSG – but high spots in the domestic arena are far more fitful.
