  • Arsenal are top and have won eight straight games in all competitions

  • Burnley have claimed successive victories to move up to 16th

  • Recommended bet: Arsenal win and under 2.5 goals

Burnley have the chance to win three straight games in the Premier League but face the ultimate challenge in the top flight right now as leaders Arsenal head to Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Gunners have won eight games across all competitions as Mikel Arteta’s men continue to battle on four fronts, beating Brighton in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Team news

Burnley midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu was injured late on in the 3-2 win over Wolves last Sunday but is expected to be available for selection.

However, Clarets trio Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer and Zeki Amdouni are all set to be sidelined for the rest of the calendar year.

Declan Rice and Riccardo Calafiori both came off in the Gunners' win over Crystal Palace but will be available for the trip to Burnley having been named in the squad against Brighton on Wednesday.

However, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli, who also picked up knocks against the Eagles, were not ready to return and will be assessed before Burnley.

Captain Martin Odegaard, Noni Madueke, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz remain sidelined with the quartet all out with knee injuries.

The stats

Burnley have won just one of their 18 Premier League games against Arsenal (drawing four and losing 13).

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 11 away league games against Burnley (winning six and drawing five).

Burnley haven’t scored more than once in any of their 18 Premier League games against Arsenal (nine goals in total).

Arsenal have won 23 of their last 24 Premier League games against promoted sides. The only exception in this run was a 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in May 2023.

Prediction

Both history and current form suggests Arsenal will earn another three points when Mikel Arteta’s men head to Turf Moor on Saturday.

The Gunners have lost just once to Burnley in 18 Premier League matches, have a record of 13 wins in a row against promoted sides and are currently on a run of eight straight victories in all competitions this season.

Arsenal are heavy favourites against Burnley but it is important to note that it looks unlikely to be a goal-fest in Lancashire.

That is because the Gunners have scored two goals or less in all but one of their last nine victories. Arteta’s side romped to a 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League but their other triumphs have been more modest, with Arsenal instead getting the job done while always staying in control.

Burnley look set to lose after successive wins over Leeds and Wolves though it will likely be a narrow home defeat against the leaders.
