Prediction
Brentford will hope they can really kick-start their season after last week’s 3-1 win over Manchester United, but overcoming the Old Trafford outfit’s neighbours is likely to prove a difficult task.
City fans will have been concerned they were about to witness another underwhelming season following defeats to Tottenham and Brighton, but they are unbeaten in their six games since and they would have won them all had they not conceded late on against both Arsenal and then Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday.
They cruised past United themselves, winning 3-0 on that occasion, but their only other league clean sheet has come against winless Wolves, who they saw off 4-0 at Molineux on the opening weekend, so the Bees are capable of finding the net.
The problem, though, is that they have to find a way of keeping a lid on Erling Haaland, who has already scored eight goals in the league this season and struck both of their goals against Monaco in midweek.
City’s superior firepower is likely to tell in the end but the Bees can give Gianluigi Donnarumma plenty to think about and they could get themselves on the scoresheet.
