  • Brentford have won seven of their last eight away games

  • Bournemouth have won just two of their last nine home games

  • Recommended bet: Brentford to win

Brentford nearly squandered a 3-0 lead at Burnley over the weekend but they managed to dig deep to triumph in a seven-goal thriller at Turf Moor to keep their European push alive.

Keith Andrews’ troops now head to the south coast on Tuesday to face a Bournemouth side who have forced their way back into the top 10 after dropping dangerously close to the drop zone for a brief period.

The Cherries produced a comeback of their own on Saturday as they fought back to earn a point at home to Sunderland and extend their unbeaten streak to nine games inside normal time across all competitions.

Team news

Bournemouth striker Evanilson may sit out after being removed from the action in the draw with Sunderland.

The Brazilian came off the bench and hit his side’s equaliser against the Black Cats, but was then forced off himself late on.

Brentford keeper Caoimhin Kelleher should be available again after he missed the win at Burnley due to the birth of his child.

The stats

Brentford won the reverse fixture 4-1 at home.

The Bees have 10 points from their last five games, Bournemouth have nine.

Brentford have won their last four away games (all competitions).

Prediction

Brentford have been a bit of a bogey team for Bournemouth in recent years and they can continue that dominance with three points at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday.

The Bees won the reverse fixture 4-1 earlier this season to make it five wins in a row against their hosts.

Bournemouth’s last win over Brentford came in a Championship fixture back in 2021, and they have lost seven of the nine meetings since.

Head-to-head records aside, Brentford’s form on the road suggests they can get the job done here even if Bournemouth have rediscovered their own form recently.

The Bees made it four wins in a row on their travels with a 4-3 win at Burnley at the weekend, digging out a late winner after seeing a three-goal advantage evaporate, and they have now won seven of their last eight away from home — with one loss at Chelsea.

Bournemouth have been in fine form themselves and they are unbeaten in eight in the Premier League.

Andoni Iraola’s side have drawn three of their last four, however, and they may find this in-form Brentford outfit too much to cope with when these two European hopefuls clash on the south coast on Tuesday.
