PSG have reached a verbal agreement with Ajax to sign Mika Godts for a package deal valued at €55m [£46.9m].

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that documents have yet to be exchanged, but it would seem that the Parisians have now fully bolstered their frontline.

Coupled with a separate deal to sign Barcelona’s Ferran Torres, events should now be set in motion leading to the likely exit of Bradley Barcola.

Mika Godts set to join Ferran Torres at PSG

We still think it’s a little mad that Liverpool didn’t appear to seriously consider either winger as potential options for themselves.

But no one will actually care about that if Richard Hughes and Co. manage to bring Barcola to Anfield this summer. Perhaps even his exciting teammate Ibrahim Mbaye (18) too.

At any rate, we should now see a more relaxed stance from Luis Enrique’s side as they look to jettison spare parts in the squad.

Just how much PSG will be prepared to lower their ideal asking price of £145m remains to be seen – but we hope a middle ground between the top and Liverpool’s internal valuation (around £100m) can be achieved.

Liverpool in regular talks with PSG over Bradley Barcola

It would seem that Liverpool have been actively anticipating such events, given their reportedly consistent conversations with PSG this week.

And with Godts and Torres set to become PSG players – barring any late surprises – it looks like we’ll end up wrapping up business with the Ligue 1 champions shortly after.

With Newcastle away coming up in nine days, we’ve lost out on pre-season to bed in the Frenchman and any future signings.

But hopefully, at least, this will now speed up any additional business we have planned before the window shuts in September.
