JJ Gabriel and Harry Amass took part in Manchester United’s first-team training session on Wednesday as the club prepared for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Everton.
The academy players were involved with the senior group following the transfer deadline. Their participation comes as United prepare for the game at Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Michael Carrick assessing his available options.

Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan reported from the open training session on X that Amad was absent, while Mason Mount, Benjamin Sesko, Gabriel and Amass were part of the group. Khan also reported that Matthijs de Ligt was not involved as he is being load managed.
Amad is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks after a training injury. De Ligt remains in recovery from an operation, while Mount’s return to training gives United a possible midfield option for the Everton match. The evidence indicates there is a chance Mount could be involved in the matchday squad.

Why Harry Amass could be needed
Amass, 19, was close to leaving on deadline day amid interest from several EFL clubs. However, United did not sign a left-back and the defender remained at Old Trafford.
He had been expected to feature primarily for the Under-21s this season. With Carrick short on options, though, Amass could be needed sooner than anticipated and his involvement in the open session puts him alongside the first-team group ahead of Everton.

Gabriel, 15, has made a strong start with United’s Under-21s. Across two matches, he has scored twice and supplied two assists. His place in first-team training is another notable step for the young player as he continues to feature at academy level.
Sunday’s trip to Everton may come too soon for a senior debut, but both academy players have been involved in the latest preparation.
