Former Tottenham scout Bryan King has tipped Morgan Gibbs-White to head to the club, with Lucas Bergvall going in the opposite direction, to Nottingham Forest.

Gibbs-White was nearing a move to Spurs last summer. They made an approach in regards to his £60million release clause, but Forest deemed that to be unlawful and threatened legal action.

The midfielder ended up remaining in the Midlands, as well as penning a new contract.

But there's speculation over his exit again this summer, following Forest's 16th-placed finish, and former Spurs scout King feels a move to Tottenham could be on the cards given Forest are interested in Bergvall.

He told Football Insider: "There's a deal there with Bergvall, isn't there? If he went to Forest. I think it's certainly doable. If Forest fancy Bergvall and Gibbs-White wants to leave, and the offer's right, I could see it happening.

"There again, you know, it comes down to loyalty again, doesn't it? He signed a new contract. Things didn't work out. They're not in Europe. I think it's going to be a tough year for Forest.

"They'll be in a transitional year, it's whether the new manager fancies him and maybe the new manager fancies Bergvall. There's a deal to be done there, if there's going to be a deal."

Forest knocked back for Bergvall

Bergvall is known to have asked to leave Tottenham, and reports have suggested that they'd accept £45million for the midfielder, but that Roberto De Zerbi doesn't actively want to push him out.

But The Standard has reported the pair have had no contact and Spurs have not attempted to convince the Swede to stay.

That certainly opens him up to a move away, and reports suggest he'd be most willing to move to another Premier League side.

Forest, though, reportedly had a bid of £38million turned away for Bergvall.

It was later suggested that the Midlands-based club were planning to stretch to £45million, and that feels more likely to be accepted if previous reports are to be revealed.

But it seems should they be willing to get rid of Gibbs-White, Forest could make their pursuit of Bergvall easier by doing a partial swap deal between the players.

Whether Spurs want Gibbs-White, having already signed Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali for the midfield this summer, is another question.
