An exciting midfielder has been spotted at Liverpool and he is closing in on a free transfer to the Reds.
As a Liverpool fan right now, you might be inclined to ask just what exactly is Richard Hughes doing?
He had all of the summer window to prepare and bolster Andoni Iraola's squad and it's only now with just a few days left until the deadline next week on Tuesday that the club's sporting director is accelerating moves.
Where has he been all throughout the summer?
It's a valid question.
But at least Hughes is doing something, because of my Liverpool desperately need something to be done. Currently, this squad looks thin and definitely not prepared to go into a season competing on all fronts in the Premier League and the Champions League.
So, Hughes is now closing in on the signing of Bradley Barcola, which will be a huge addition.
And on top of that he is pursuing a move for Ismail Sarr and Yankuba Minteh, having had bids rejected for both of them.
Their clubs will be reluctant to sell them. However, Hughes will be persistent.
And whether it's Minteh or Sarr, those two might not be Liverpool's final additions either.
Richard Hughes moving to sign a midfielder
Let's be honest, the Reds' midfield options are looking very thin at the moment.
Right now, with Curtis Jones' departure and Stefan Bajcetic set to follow, these are the players who could play in that double pivot:
Dominik Szoboszlai
Ryan Gravenberch
Alexis Mac Allister
Wataru Endo
Trey Nyoni
We are not going to include James McConnell on here, because he clearly isn't ready to step up and will likely head out on loan. Endo's future is also up in the air, and he could leave on a permanent basis.
Nyoni is talented but Liverpool should not rely on him.
Most importantly, Liverpool will need a more defensive minded player. The game against Newcastle showed that Andoni Iraola's system requires a player who knows when to hold his run and when to commit.
It's something the recruitment team also recognises and they are exploring options.
Anfield Watch understands Liverpool are interested and are exploring the conditions to bring in Lamine Camara before the end of the window.
Although he might not be the only midfield arrival.
Liverpool to sign midfielder on a free transfer
Another player who is on the club's radar and who is already training with Liverpool is Patrik Farkas.
Recently, BST Galaxy released a video of their young stars going on trial with the Reds and in this video Anfield Watch spotted Patrik Farkas training with the club as well.
The Hungarian U19 international can be seen wearing an orange bid in the far corner of the picture next to the player who is about to receive the ball, which is actually Musa Jatta - a Gambian trialist from BST Galaxy.
Farkas looks like he is playing as a midfielder but he's also played out wide for Liverpool throughout the summer.
He is a midfielder by trade and he's been spending time with the club's U21 side after becoming a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Blackburn. His younger brother, Erik, is highly regarded at Liverpool.
As Anfield Watch revealed exclusively, it is expected that Patrik will be signing for the Reds. He is in advanced negotiations to join the club, with just a few minor details to sort out.
However, the feeling is that these will be resolved and Farkas will be the fifth Hungarian on the club's books come the end of the window.
Given Liverpool's lack of depth, Farkas will have a great opportunity to play regularly for the club's U21 side while also being given the chance to impress Iraola and earn himself a spot in the first-team - potentially in one of the cup games.
