Medical examination tomorrow: Arsenal seal deal for England star
The deal is now imminent
Arsenal have reached a final agreement with Aston Villa to sign the English defender Ezri Konsa, a deal that strengthens the backline before the new season kicks off. The player is set to undergo a medical ahead of officially completing his move.
Sky's German journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that the agreement is worth 59 million euros as a fixed fee, plus add-ons. Konsa is scheduled to undergo the medical tomorrow, Thursday.
According to Plettenberg, Arsenal also tried to sign Jarell Quansah from Bayer Leverkusen, but the German club refused to let the English player leave.
The London club had made Konsa one of its most prominent defensive targets this summer, especially after William Saliba's injury and with Jurrien Timber absent at the start of the season.
At 28, Konsa can play at centre-back and right-back. He has featured regularly for Aston Villa over past seasons and was part of the England squad at the last World Cup.
Arsenal opened the new season with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Community Shield last Sunday.
