Manchester United Yet to Approach Tottenham’s Djed Spence

Djed Spence has reportedly been offered to Manchester United this summer, but the club had not made a formal approach for the Tottenham full-back.

Transfers journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Manchester United and Liverpool were among the Premier League clubs approached over a possible move for Spence. The 25-year-old is reportedly seeking guaranteed first-team football following his England campaign at the 2026 World Cup, while uncertainty remains over his place in Roberto De Zerbi’s plans at Tottenham.

Tottenham are said to value Spence at £35 million (€40m). He signed a new long-term contract with Spurs 12 months earlier, but the club are reportedly open to a departure as De Zerbi seeks funds for a rebuild.

Why a move to United has not progressed

Manchester United already have Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui on the right-hand side of defence. With those options in the squad, United had not made a formal approach for Spence at the time of the report.

Spence faces competition at Tottenham too. He is seen as being behind Pedro Porro in De Zerbi’s defensive pecking order, despite his international displays for England.

That situation has prompted Spence’s representatives to explore potential landing spots with Premier League clubs. United and Liverpool were named among the sides contacted, but neither had made a formal approach.

Inter Milan interest remains at an early stage

Inter Milan have also registered interest in Spence as a potential right wing-back option. However, talks were described as being at an early stage because of a gap between the Serie A club’s valuation and Tottenham’s asking price.

For now, Spence’s representatives are exploring possible destinations, while Tottenham’s £35 million (€40m) valuation remains a significant part of any potential deal.
