Manchester City have won their first match of the Premier League season. They trailed Bournemouth for most of the game but still snatched it late on: 2-1.

Manchester City handed new signing Elliot Anderson a start against Bournemouth. The midfielder joined from Nottingham Forest early in the transfer window for €130 million.

Enzo Maresca's side started strongly at the Etihad Stadium. Rico Lewis had a big chance after just four minutes, and Erling Haaland threatened within 13 minutes. Neither came to anything.

After a quarter of an hour, Bournemouth began to grow into the game and took the lead after 27 minutes. Marcus Tavernier took Evanilson's pass in the box and finished: 0-1.

A minute later, Semenyo went down in the penalty area, but the referee waved play on. Soon after, Petrovic had to save from Haaland.

Following the break, the game in Manchester lost much of its spark, and Anderson had to go off after an hour with a hamstring injury.

Late on, Manchester City finally found the equaliser. Marc Guehi was left completely unmarked from a corner and headed the 1-1 past the goalkeeper.

Then came the winner in stoppage time. After a fine move by Rayan Cherki, Josko Gvardiol was picked out in the penalty area. He steered it into the far corner with his weaker right foot: 2-1.
