Man Utd want to sign Barcelona midfielder Gavi after Rodri transfer confirmed

Manchester United could benefit from Rodri signing for Barcelona, as reports in Spain state they're interested in midfield man Gavi.
Rodri to Barca has looked on for weeks, the only sticking point was the fee. City turned down three bids from the Spanish outfit before finally accepting their midfielder's departure.
The Premier League outfit will earn over £65million from the exit, and there are now decisions to be made at Barca.
It's been suggested of late that one of Gavi, Pedri, Marc Casado or Marc Bernal will be impacted by Rodri's arrival, as arguably the best midfielder in the world will slot straight into the side and play a lot of football.
That could benefit United, who've been looking for a third midfield signing this summer after landing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and are said to be keen on Gavi.
Reports in Spain suggest both United and Bayern Munich are keen on the Spaniard, and feel he'll be able to get back to his best soon.
To try to bring Gavi through the door, it's said United would be willing to put €40million (£34m) on the table as the fixed fee, with an extra €15million (£12.8m) needed in add-ons.
United have options in midfield
Insiders have claimed that United have options in the midfield, with Brighton's Carlos Baleba having remained an option prior to his injury should the Red Devils have wanted to sign him.
Ben Jacobs said: “I think if they want Baleba, they can get Baleba. If they want [Sander] Berge, they can get Berge. If they want [Tyler] Adams, they can get Adams.
“So those are the three most viable names, but there’s also the scenario now where it’s only two midfielders because they won’t panic buy a third.”
Fabrizio Romano has added: “The injury for Carlos Baleba is making things more complicated. So Man United at the moment are not proceeding with the Carlos Baleba deal.”
There is no suggestion from the insiders that Gavi is being pursued, though there seems a chance that, with Rodri through the door, he could be the man sacrificed in the midfield.
