Man Utd ‘prepare’ new Lewis Hall move amid world-record Newcastle demands
Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall remains a priority target for Manchester United, but INEOS must pay a world-record fee to bring him to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils’ Premier League season got off to the worst possible start on Saturday, losing 2-0 to newly-promoted Hull City, showing how much work they have left to do before they can challenge at the top of the table.
A new left-back, who can compete with Luke Shaw for a starting spot, has long been a priority for Michael Carrick and Co, and Newcastle star Hall is their top target.
However, luring him from St James’ Park is proving incredibly difficult.
According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle boss Matthias Jaissle is determined to keep the 21-year-old, and the club’s stance is so strong that United ‘would need to break the world transfer record for a left-back just to make the Magpies seriously consider a deal,’ per the report.
The current record stands at the £68million Bayern Munich paid to sign Lucas Hernandez from Real Madrid back in 2019.
Hall is said to be keen on a switch to United, and INEOS are ‘prepared to test Newcastle’s resolve’ before the window slams shut. Whether they’d be willing to pay £70m, or more, however, still remains to be seen.

Man Utd have identified five Lewis Hall alternatives
United are determined to sign a left-back even if Hall proves to be out of reach.
With that in mind, TEAMtalk have confirmed five potential alternatives Carrick’s side could move for.
Racing Santander’s Jorge Salinas is a player they have considered. But Atletico Madrid are pushing hard to win the race for the talented 19-year-old.
RB Leipzig’s David Raum and Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde are also on their shortlist.
United are looking at other players from within the Premier League, too.
The report adds that Fulham’s Antonee Robinson and Bournemouth Adrien Truffert are also being considered by The Red Devils.
With the transfer window drawing to a close, United must move quickly if they are to pursue a record-breaking deal for Hall.
It’s almost certain United will sign a new left-back, but whether they can get their top target is still unclear at this stage.
