Man City finalise £34m deal for Savinho replacement

Manchester City have finalised their agreement with Palmeiras to sign highly-rated winger Allan Elias, with the player now set to travel to England for his medical, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal.

TEAMtalk confirmed last week that talks were taking place between Man City and Palmeiras and also revealed that a deal was likely to be worth around €40million (£34m).

That is exactly how the transfer has now been structured, with Palmeiras agreeing to a package of €37.5m up front plus a further €2.5m in add-ons.

The 22-year-old is being brought in to provide the attacking cover Man City require following the departure of Savinho to Tottenham Hotspur and is initially expected to become part of the first-team squad.

TEAMtalk understands Elias will work under Enzo Maresca with City before his situation is assessed again in January.

The club are keen to see how quickly the Brazilian can adapt to English football and the demands of their first-team environment before deciding on the next stage of his development.

Elias is understood to be keen on the move and has now been given permission by Palmeiras to travel to England to complete his medical.

A long-term contract has been agreed in principle and the remaining formalities are now being completed ahead of his move to Manchester.

City’s relationship with Palmeiras has also helped the deal progress, with the two clubs having already worked together on the transfer of Vitor Reis.

For now, the focus is on completing the final steps of Elias’ move, with City having secured the player they see as the immediate replacement for Savinho in their squad.
