Man City fans won't believe the latest Erling Haaland transfer chatter
Should Manchester City fans brace themselves for Erling Haaland leaving for a different league and a different team? Maybe, if one believes the latest speculation about the best striker in the world landing at Bayern Munich in a few years. Or possibly sooner.
According to a recent TEAMTalk article, the Bavarian giants are positioning themselves for a play on Haaland, depending slightly on what happens with Harry Kane. Bayern Munich is hoping to also work out a multi-year extension with the British icon for another two years. If that happens, there likely isn't enough for Haaland.
Plus, and this is the important part, Haaland's current deal with City runs through 2034. The Blues are extremely unlikely to allow the Norwegian to be sold elsewhere, no matter where else that might be. Haaland is clearly too important to Man City's immediate and long-term goals.

Would City still be good with Haaland? Sure, as the squad has enough talent and depth to survive without even its brightest star. But with Haaland, City is capable of reeling off a few more Premier League titles. That is far less likely without him.
Graeme Bailey of TEAMTalk puts any discussion of the Norwegian leaving succinctly, writing, "However, while their immediate focus remains on Kane, Bayern are already carrying out due diligence on what comes next for their attack and are keen to ensure they remain in the conversation should Haaland eventually become available."
The important word above is "should." Anyone can speculate about Erling Haaland leaving his current club and playing literally anywhere else in the world. That doesn't mean he will, or is even remotely likely to. The talk is fun, but the reality is, to make City fans happy, quite different.
Unless something major and negative happens, Manchester City should be in no rush to move on from a player who has scored 117 goals in 137 matches in his time with the Blues. Even though Haaland has often been linked to Barcelona or Real Madrid, the chances of him moving on in the next several years are low.
If he did before 2034, the cost would be exceedingly high, and City would obviously have a plan for replacing a player who might simply be irreplaceable. City is loaded with excellent forwards, but having Haaland on the pitch makes everyone else's job easier.
So, will the talk of him leaving and playing elsewhere continue? Almost definitely, but that is only because speculating about where he could go is pure entertainment. For Man City fans, the real entertainment will come from Erling Haaland continuing to score goals in blue for the foreseeable future.
