Liverpool vs Fulham early injury news as 5 ruled out and 3 doubts

Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Saturday, when they host Fulham on the back of midweek Champions League success. The Reds overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat Atletico Madrid during the week, making it back-to-back wins following a disappointing start to the season.

Speaking of disappointing starts, Fulham have lost all three of their Premier League games so far, with new boss Alvaro Arbeloa, a former Liverpool player, of course, failing to hit the ground running after taking over from Marco Silva.

Liverpool will be heavy favourites for this one as they look to start making up ground on those at the top of the table, and ahead of the game, we have rounded up the latest injury news surrounding both teams.

Tom Cairney - Out

The veteran midfielder is going to be out until after the international break due to a procedure on his knee. A statement confirmed in early August: "Tom underwent a minor surgical procedure to his left knee earlier today. He will now undergo a rehab programme with the Club’s medical and performance staff, and is expected to return to training after the September international break."

Luc De Fougerolles - Doubt

Fougerolles is a doubt with an issue he picked up in late August. It was hoped the injury was nothing serious, but we have not heard an update since, and he has not featured.

Conor Bradley - Out

Bradley is a long-term absentee as he recovers from his knee injury. Iraola said last week: "I think even Fede should be around those dates [in September], and probably Conor (Bradley), and especially Hugo (Ekitike), will go later, yes." Bradley's likely return is placed at around late November to early December.

Hugo Ekitike - Out

Ekitike is likely to return around the same date from his calf issue.

Federico Chiesa - Out

Chiesa is going to remain out until October with his lower back issue. He should actually be able to return in late September, but the international break means he will not be able to feature for a while later.

Giovanni Leoni - Out

Leoni's long road to recovery is almost at an end. Iraola said last week: "I think the next one probably should be Giovanni Leoni. I think the plan is also to start training during the [international] break, with the group."

Cody Gakpo - Doubt

Gakpo did not feature in the Champions League game, and Iraola explained: "Cody finished the game the other day vs Ipswich with some adductor issues. Both sides. Nothing specific. [It is] not a proper injury. But we didn't want to risk him, and I think it makes sense [that] he rests and hope we can recover him. If it's not for the weekend, it's for the next one. But I think even for the weekend, he has a chance."

Joe Gomez - Doubt

Iraola said last week that he was hopeful of getting Gomez back before the international break, and there is a chance he could feature here.
