Liverpool have dominated the transfer market once again this summer.

Although the club may not have spent anywhere near as much money as they did last term, they've still been linked with a whole host of players.

Many of them looked likely to convert into actual deals but, at the moment, only three transfers have been confirmed.

In order for Liverpool to make these deals work, some sales and exits are going to have to be sanctioned.

However, with how little homegrown players they currently have among their ranks, it's unclear who they can really afford to sacrifice.

Despite this, a deal for the exit of one Liverpool star seems to have just been agreed that could result in a decent financial windfall for Liverpool in the future.

Curtis Jones is finally set to join Inter Milan this summer

One of the most drawn-out transfer saga's of Liverpool's window has been Curtis Jones' switch to Inter Milan.

For the last 18 months or so, the Serie A outfit have been eyeing a move for the Englishman and have tried to strike a deal with Liverpool at every opportunity possible.

However, now that the 25-year-old has entered the final year of his contract, Liverpool either need to sell him or risk losing him for nothing at the end of the 2026-27 season.

For a long time, it felt like the Reds were going to stick to their guns with Andoni Iraola even saying that he wanted to keep him around.

However, since no new deal was on the horizon and both Trey Nyoni and James McConnell have been kept around, the deal to allow Jones to move was bound to happen.

And now, it finally has with Ben Jacobs sharing an extra detail about some extra money that the Reds could get from the move in the future.

"Inter in direct talks with Liverpool as they look to close a deal for Curtis Jones," he wrote.

"Package/structure under discussion similar to the €35m that saw Inter sign Djed Spence.

"Talks heading in a positive direction.

"Inter offer also includes a 10% sell-on for Liverpool."

Liverpool's 10 per cent sell-on clause for Curtis Jones could be rather helpful

Obviously, 10 per cent of Jones' next transfer may not end up being massive amount of money but, it'll at least give the Reds some sort of return on their investment in the Englishman.

Most Liverpool fans would obviously rather have the club keep him around but, since those bridges were burned last season thanks to Arne Slot's lack of faith in him, his exit always felt like it was going to happen.

At the moment, he's not one of the best central midfielders in the world but, during certain games for Liverpool, it did seem like he could eventually be one of the best players among their ranks.

And, if this move to Inter means that he'll be able to play in his favoured role and feature consistently, there's no reason why he won't be able to meet his potential.

Scott McTominay is the best example of this. The Scotsman was good for Manchester United but, after joining Napoli, his performances went to another level with fans even seeing him as a god among men.

So, if the same happens for Jones and Inter get a bit cash-strapped, Liverpool could easily end up making a decent chunk of change in the future.

Here's hoping that actually happens so that this deal doesn't feel like a complete car crash.
