Liverpool will see Tijuana open the door to the exit of teenage talent Gilberto Mora, who they've waited patiently for a chance to sign, reports Football Insider.

The Reds are believed to have identified Mora as a target in 2024-25, when he burst into Tijuana's first team. But the teenager is still yet to turn 18, so would not be able to move to the Premier League until such a time.

Liverpool have continued to keep tabs on Mora since they first spied him, and it won't be long before he can move.

Indeed, he is 18 in October, and the report states Tijuana are set to open the door for his exit next summer.

Indeed, they feel that is the best time to cash in on the 17-year-old, despite there being a transfer window between now and then.

What fee the Mexican star will command remains to be seen, but as a breakout star at the 2026 World Cup, his transfer fee will reflect that.

Further to that, it's said there will be an open race for Mora's signature, with Liverpool one of the sides in it.

That could mean a battle for his services could inflate the price Tijuana will receive.

Gilberto Mora in stunning form

Mora was in top form on the world stage in the summer, when the 17-year-old played four of Mexico's five World Cup games, and looked comfortable with the challenge.

In Mexico's first game after the World Cup, Mora scored his first international goal, the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Colombia.

That follows a sensational period of form in club football for the teen.

In seven games in Liga MX so far this season, Mora has five goals and one assist. He had a direct hand in both goals in a 2-1 victory over Cruz Azul, before scoring both goals in the 2-0 victory over UNAM Pumas two games later.

Only four players have outscored the 17-year-old in the Mexican league this season, so he's showing his capabilities as one of the standout performers alongside players far more experienced than he is.
