Liverpool ready to make transfer attempt for Real Madrid midfielder

Real Madrid were very active in the transfer market over the summer, and it could be a similar story in 2027. While there is unlikely to be much business in January in terms of incomings, there could be players that depart, with one of them being Aurelien Tchouameni.

In the summer, there was a lot of speculation surrounding Tchouameni’s future at Real Madrid, but that all came to rest when it was reported that he had penned a new long-term contract. Jose Mourinho is counting on the Frenchman, more so considering that the club failed to bring in another midfielder before the transfer window closed.

It is not ruled out that Real Madrid re-enter that market in 2027 to fill the void left by Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. If that happens, it would give chances for Tchouameni to leave in spite of his new contract, and if the door is opened, Liverpool will make a move, as reported by TEAMtalk (via CaughtOffside).

Should Real Madrid sell Tchouameni?

Tchouameni was one of only a few Real Madrid players to have a good 2025-26 season, but he’s struggled to get up to speed during the current campaign – which is understandable, given he was injured for the first few weeks. Nevertheless, he’s not looked comfortable alongside club captain Federico Valverde in the centre of midfield, and there is an argument that a different profile would be better in that pairing.

For now, there is no indication that Real Madrid will try to sell Tchouameni anytime soon. Eduardo Camavinga is much more likely to depart, although his strong desire to stay despite not being counted on heavily by Mourinho could mean that his countryman is considered for an exit in the future, at which point Liverpool could be given the chance to secure his signature.
