Liverpool leave duo out of Champions League squad
Liverpool have left Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo out of their 25-man squad for the league phase of the Champions League.
Chiesa was also initially omitted from Liverpool’s Champions League squad last season under former boss Arne Slot, before being added to the list following a long-term knee injury suffered by defender Giovanni Leoni in September.
The Italy international has struggled for regular first-team opportunities since joining Liverpool from Juventus in August 2024.
Japan midfielder Endo has also missed out on a place in Andoni Iraola’s squad despite being named as an unused substitute in Liverpool’s opening two league matches of the season.
Instead, 21-year-old midfielder James McConnell has been included in the Champions League squad.
Defenders Leoni and Conor Bradley, as well as striker Hugo Ekitike, have also made the cut despite recovering from long-term injuries.
