Liverpool are one of the most well-known clubs in the world.

Almost every single player that has ever joined the Reds have always spoken about how massive the club is and what it means to represent them.

They've won every title imaginable and, even after their fifth-place finish last term, they still managed to entice players such as Bradley Barcola to join them this summer.

Obviously, with Mohamed Salah exiting it was probably easy enough for the Reds to convince the Frenchman that he'd get plenty of playing time but, after winning the Champions League two seasons in a row with Paris Saint-Germain, Barcola took the leap.

However, despite their attack being bolstered in the summer, there are many other areas among their ranks that could do with an upgrade and now, Liverpool may have just stumbled on the perfect way for them to do that.

Liverpool are monitoring Brentford's Michael Kayode

In the 2025-26 season, right-back was one of Liverpool's main issues.

The Anfield outfit ended up playing Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones there for large chunks of the campaign and, while they did fairly well, having a natural right-back there instead would obviously be much better for them.

So, that's why many different full-backs were linked with Liverpool over the summer.

In the end, Ronald Araujo was signed to cover both centre-back and right-back for Iraola.

However, with Conor Bradley still out injured and Jeremie Frimpong hardly playing well, there's still room for another right-back to get brought in, especially since Araujo is only on a season-long loan.

And, as per the latest update from Caught Offside, it seems like the Reds already have their eyes set on a new full-back.

"Sources have informed CaughtOffside that Liverpool have placed Kayode at the “top of their watchlist” as they look to strengthen right‑back rotation," they wrote.

"Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United are also monitoring him to add athleticism to their defensive lines. Meanwhile, Juventus and other Serie A clubs are tracking his progress closely, given his youth background at Juventus and Fiorentina, and hope to bring him back to Italy.

"At present, no official bid has been submitted to Brentford, and no direct negotiations have begun. The process remains in the 'monitoring and reporting' stage ahead of the winter window.

"Signed from Fiorentina in 2025 for €17.5M, Kayode’s market value has climbed to around €40M. Brentford are expected to demand at least €60‑65M for any serious talks."

Michael Kayode would be a huge upgrade on Jeremie Frimpong

At the moment, Frimpong, who was signed by Liverpool for £29.5 million, doesn't really get a look in at right-back.

Last season, Arne Slot tried his best to make his fellow countryman work at right-back and, even though his lightning quick pace is hard for opponents to deal with, his defensive work is often rather shoddy.

There have been times when he's made a good tackle or managed to man-mark his opponents but, more often than not, he's failed to meet expectations.

This is one of the main reasons why Araujo is now Liverpool's starting right-back.

But, since his future at Anfield isn't guaranteed, the Reds need to figure out all of their potential options which is why them signing Kayode makes a lot of sense.

Indeed, his fee would set Liverpool back a fair few pennies but, with the way that he's performed for Brentford and the positive contributions he's had on Keith Andrews' squad, the £55 million needed to sign the Italian would be worthwhile.

That is, especially since he's only 22 years old and already has a decent chunk of Premier League experience under his belt.
