Liverpool boss Iraola responds to Mac Allister contract claims
Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola insists the most important thing is that Alexis Mac Allister is committed to the club, despite the midfielder admitting he was left saddened by his contract situation.
Mac Allister revealed that he had options to leave Anfield during the summer transfer window but said he hopes the club will change their stance on offering him a new deal.
The Argentinian has two years left on his current contract.
But Iraola played down concerns over Mac Allister’s future and stressed there is still plenty of time for his contract situation to be resolved.
“We all have personal situations with different contracts,” Iraola said.
“The important thing is he wants to be here. We haven’t been together a long time but he has been an important player and I rate him very highly.
“There is still a lot of time to talk about those contract situations.”
Mac Allister has made clear that he remains fully committed to Liverpool despite his disappointment, promising to give “100 per cent” for the club for as long as he remains at Anfield.
