Liverpool are considering submitting an opening bid for Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, as insider Florian Plettenberg has revealed they will do 'everything they can' to get him.

The impending departure of Mohamed Salah means Liverpool have a huge gap to fill. The Egyptian superstar has been their best player for close to a decade and if he's not properly replaced, the Reds will feel it.

With Yan Diomande taken off the board, expected to head to Real Madrid for well in excess of €100million (£85.5m), PSG's Barcola is the top target.

Plettenberg has revealed Liverpool are planning to do 'everything they can' to land the French forward this summer.

Liverpool know the personal terms Barcola wants and don't expect to find an issue with those, they simply must agree to a fee with PSG.

The winger is rated at €170million (£145m) according to recent reports, and that would shatter Liverpool and the Premier League's transfer record.

Plettenberg states talks are scheduled for Monday between the two clubs, with Liverpool considering lodging an opening bid for Barcola.

Indeed, the Reds are aware that the 23-year-old is open to leaving PSG this summer.

Barcola wants Liverpool

Fellow insider Fabrizio Romano has revealed Barcola's preference if leaving the French giants is to head to Anfield.

He wrote on X: ‘Liverpool have been leading the race for Bradley Barcola since April — and they are working on the deal.

‘Understand Barcola’s open to the move and gives priority to #LFC project if they can get a deal done with PSG. Liverpool, waiting for PSG indications on price/details.’

But he has urged patience from Reds fans, suggesting the deal's conclusion might not be a quick one.

He said: “I know that now everyone is jumping on the story. No one was caring about Barcola to Liverpool in April, May, June or July, now everyone is jumping on the story.

“But it doesn’t mean Liverpool are going to sign Barcola today. It’s not going to be a super-fast deal, it’s going to take time.

“It’s a complicated negotiation in the sense that it’s a lot of money, you need to negotiate and discuss, but the player is keen on the move.

“I’ll tell you more about Barcola soon, but the update is just about the timing, to control the excitement around that.”

There is still more than a month to go in the summer transfer window, leaving Liverpool a lot of time to get a deal over the line.
