Liverpool have submitted an improved bid of no fewer than €70 million for Yankuba Minteh, David Ornstein reports on behalf of The Athletic. The winger, who previously played for Feyenoord, is seen as the dream successor to Mohamed Salah.

Earlier this week, Brighton & Hove Albion immediately rejected a bid of around €60 million, signalling that Minteh is not for sale. Liverpool's second offer has not changed that stance either: €70 million is also not enough to prise Minteh away.

Brighton have again firmly rejected the bid. Even so, The Athletic report that there appears to be an opening in the negotiations. An offer of more than €80 million could make Brighton think. Whether Liverpool are willing to go that far remains to be seen.

Minteh himself is keen on the move to Anfield. He is even said to have already reached a personal agreement with Liverpool. The forward has been convinced by the project of head coach Andoni Iraola.

Since Salah's departure, a gap has opened up on Liverpool's right wing. Victor Muñoz has already arrived from Osasuna, but Minteh is also expected to follow. Liverpool's interest in Bradley Barcola, the left winger from Paris Saint-Germain, is entirely separate.

Known for his lightning-fast sprints, Minteh has already shown how dangerous he can be in the Premier League. That pace is the main reason Liverpool want him. "Iraola likes athletic and quick players, especially out wide. Moreover, Minteh has excellent numbers when it comes to regaining possession in the final third of the pitch," it is said.

If the transfer goes through, Minteh would not be immediately available for the Reds. The wide forward is currently recovering from a leg injury, which is likely to keep him out for around another three months.
