Kostas Tsimikas reveals what he told Jürgen Klopp in reunion as Liverpool defender teases former manager

Greece handed Jugen Klopp his first defeat as Germany manager last night after a 1-0 victory at the WWK Arena.

Dimitrios Kourbelis' goal in the 74th minute was enough to cause an upset as Germany and Klopp are yet to taste victory in this installment of the Nations League.

Despite the defeat, Klopp was in good spirits during his conversation with Tsimikas at the end of the game, with the full-back teasing his former boss when speaking to Sport24:

The most fantastic feeling was seeing him after a long time. I’ve definitely been through a lot with him, there’s a relationship of love and respect between us.

"I did what he taught me, and I beat him with his own weapons. He was laughing and said, ‘Congratulations’

The 46th ranked country will be playing against the Netherlands next on the 1st of October, who will likely be without Cody Gakpo after he suffered a nasty tackle against Serbia.

The winger will have his ankle assessed today, but joins Alexander Isak as an international break casualty who left the Sweden camp due to injury.

Tsimikas is looking forward to the next set of games, declaring:

I’ll see him [Klopp] in a week. Now we’ll rest because in three days we’re playing another final.”

Wirtz joins the Germany squad earlier than expected

Liverpool's number 7 was initially only going to feature against Serbia and in the away Greece fixture, but was brought in earlier due to injury issues in the Germany camp

He made a brief cameo for Germany last night, coming off the bench for the final 25 minutes of the fixture.

This is rarely long enough for a player to meaningfully contribute to the outcome of a game, and the young midfielder was only able to see his shot fly high over the bar. It probably took a deflection, but a corner wasn't given.

The 23 year old has faced a lot of scrutiny in recent weeks, but more time under Jugen Klopp and a good performance in the next two games against Serbia and Greece will massively help his confidence.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez (Hungary), Bradley Barcola, Jeremy Jacquet (France), Ronald Araujo (Uruguay) and Giorgi Mamardashvili (Georgia) are all playing today and it will be good to see how the rest of Liverpool's international contingent get on.

Hopefully there are no further injuries for the Reds.
