Just in: Arsenal in talks to sign England international as Liverpool decide against £70m deal
Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Bayer Leverkusen over the potential transfer of former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah.
The England international looked like a big prospect during his time at Anfield, but ultimately struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.
See below as Sky Sports have now broken the news in the last few minutes that Arsenal are in talks over signing the 23-year-old…
However, Romano also mentioned that Arsenal are looking at other options, including a failed approach for Atletico Madrid’s Marc Pubill, as a deal for Konsa wouldn’t be straightforward.
Arsenal eye Jarell Quansah but Liverpool aren’t re-signing him
Just recently, it was reported that Liverpool had decided not to pursue a deal to re-sign Quansah, despite having a buy-back clause.
According to talkSPORT, the Merseyside giants did not see Quansah as a priority, and in fairness, his £70m clause is not exactly cheap.
Having said that, LFC are a little short of defensive options at the moment, with Ibrahima Konate leaving on a free transfer earlier this summer, while Virgil van Dijk is surely too old to still be playing 90 minutes every few days.
