Julian Ward sends Liverpool scouts to watch wonderkid in action
The summer transfer window may have only just shut but, that hasn't stopped Liverpool from being linked with new players.
The Anfield outfit still have a lot of work to do on their first-team squad and, even though things are looking a bit better with Andoni Iraola at the helm, it's clear that there are still some major problem areas among their ranks.
And, with the contracts of players such as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson set to expire in June, change is almost certainly coming to L4.
In fact, things already seem to be changing at Anfield as, with Richard Hughes now gone, Julian Ward has taken over his duties as Liverpool's sporting director.
It already seems like the 45-year-old has kicked off his Liverpool tenure with a bang as he's already sending his scouts on missions to find out who Liverpool's next signing should be.
Finn Jeltsch has been scouted by Liverpool
When Arne Slot was in charge last year, one of Liverpool's main issues was their defence.
No matter what happened, it always seemed like they were one or two players short of actually fielding a decent back line.
The fact that Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo all had to play there at different points in the season proves how poor their back line actually was.
This led to fans demanding that new faces were brought in to help bolster their defensive ranks and, fortunately, their demands were met.
And, while Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo have done well, with Van Dijk's future still being unknown, Joe Gomez's injury history being rather worrying and nobody knowing whether Giovanni Leoni will be any good anymore, their defence is still ringing alarm bells.
That's why the latest update from Fussball News about Finn Jeltsch should massively pique their interest.
"Finn Jeltsch's performances at VfB Stuttgart have attracted the attention of numerous top European clubs," they wrote.
"According to information from fussball-news.de, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are among the clubs interested in the 20-year-old central defender.
"Real Madrid, in particular, is closely monitoring the development of the defensive talent. The Royal Club is working on a long-term restructuring of its central defense and has Jeltsch high on its list.
"There is also concrete interest from the Premier League. Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United have had the Stuttgart player scouted live on several occasions and are conducting detailed analyses of his development.
"FC Bayern are also monitoring the situation. The Munich club are currently observing the German center-back from the sidelines, while Juventus have already made initial inquiries regarding his potential availability."
Finn Jeltsch would be an interesting signing for Liverpool
Jeltsch is probably only a player that Liverpool's fans will have heard of thanks to his recent links with Liverpool.
At the moment, the German is one of VfB Stuttgart's most important players with his recent performances massively helping the Bundesliga outfit out.
Jeltsch is only 20 years old so he has plenty of time to grow into an even better player but, right now, he'd still be a solid addition to Liverpool's starting XI.
Of course, it would mean that the Reds had another young defender among their ranks but, with the way that things seem to be going at Anfield, Jeltsch seems like the exact sort of player that Liverpool would target.
Obviously, it would be a massive step-up for the youngster but, looking at the way he's performed this season, it genuinely does feel like he'd be able to do a job for Liverpool.
It's clear that the Reds want to sign a new centre-back at some point due to all the players that keep getting linked with an Anfield switch.
However, until they make a concrete move for someone, fans will unfortunately have to wait in anticipation and see who gets brought in over the next few months.
