Jamie Carragher is shell-shocked by reports suggesting Arsenal are looking to offload Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer.

It came after the 19-year-old registered a remarkable assist for teammate Riccardo Calafiori to open the scoring for Arsenal in their Community Shield win over Manchester City.

Carragher questions Arsenal’s Lewis-Skelly stance

Carragher reacted on X/Twitter, saying: “MLS role in that Arsenal goal! Are Arsenal really looking to push him out?”

If speculation from the last week is anything to go by, that does indeed seem to be the case – although the Gunners won’t force their academy graduate out by any means.

Instead, it’s said that Arsenal chiefs have approached both Chelsea and Manchester United to gauge whether they’d be interested in signing Lewis-Skelly.

The London outfit’s depth at left-back and in midfield means he will once again struggle for game time in 2026/2027, having made only five starts in the Premier League last season.

However, he is still keen to stay at his boyhood club and fight for his place throughout the upcoming campaign.

United currently uninterested in signing Lewis-Skelly

Meanwhile, United have other targets in mind.

INEOS would prefer to sanction a deal for Lewis Hall over Lewis-Skelly, despite Newcastle United making it clear he is off-limits.

The Reds are sizing up a late addition on the left-hand side of the backline in order not to rely solely on injury-prone Luke Shaw, who is the only out-and-out senior left-back in the squad as things stand.

Youngster Harry Amass is expected to be sold before the deadline, meaning if Shaw got injured, Michael Carrick would have to call upon Diogo Dalot or Noussair Mazraoui to deputise in the position.

It goes without saying that that’s a far from ideal situation in a season that will see United come up against Europe’s most elite sides in the Champions League, so all eyes are on Jason Wilcox and Co for the final fortnight of the window.
