Incredible star given chance to seal Liverpool agreement

One of Europe's most promising stars has a golden opportunity to seal a move to Liverpool. Now let's see if he takes it.

The transfer window may be closed but Liverpool are certainly still active as they hunt for new players. That’s despite the incredible amounts they’ve spent in the last two summers.

But gaps in the squad are plain for all to see. The most glaring is in midfield, where Liverpool simply don’t have a midfielder who can control the middle of the pitch.

Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister - the three primary midfielders - are all advanced players who want to attack the box. It leaves gaps, as seen across both of Liverpool’s opening fixtures.

Liverpool, though, do have their eyes on someone new. Ben Jacobs reports that they’re keen on Lamine Camara and the Reds were in contact over a deal at the transfer deadline.

But not to actually sign Camara. Instead, they offered a guarantee that they’ve move in 2027 and potentially approach the €70m asking price AS Monaco have set for him. Camara is reportedly keen on the move, too.

Of course, that guarantee doesn’t actually mean much. Liverpool can say whatever they want - actually committing to a purchase is a whole other matter.

And so it means that the next few months are all about Camara putting in the work to seal that deal. Liverpool are keen right now - but will that remain the case in January? Next summer?

Fortunately, all Camara has to do is continue down the same path he’s on. He’s one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe and seemingly ideally-suited to what Liverpool need in the middle.

He’s got to prove he’s a guarantee, though. Play consistently well over the season and it seems virtually certain that Liverpool make a large bid for him. Fail to do so and they’ll likely look elsewhere.

A massive period for the player, then.
