Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris hailed Enzo Le Fee after the midfielder made amends for last season by converting a penalty against Brentford to secure a point.

Le Fee missed from the spot against the same opponents last season, but showed his composure this time around to level the contest and earn Sunderland a share of the spoils.

Le Bris praised the Black Cats’ mentality to stay in the game after Brentford had taken the lead, while also highlighting the impact of his substitutes.

“The lads stayed connected and felt it was possible to win something here even after the 1-1,” he said.

“It was good for the lads and the substitutes. They gave this extra drive that we need.

“It was tough last season for Enzo, but he has learned. I wasn’t worried about the penalty because he is a really good footballer.”
