‘He’s someone who…’: Bruno Fernandes admits he ‘really likes’ Premier League starlet linked with United

Bruno Fernandes has revealed he’s a fan of Bournemouth starlet Alex Scott, who was heavily linked with Manchester United throughout the summer window.

Scott was confirmed to be on INEOS’ shortlist on numerous occasions before they opted to bring in Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba and Youri Tielemans instead.

Bournemouth had maintained since the very beginning of the transfer window that the midfielder was not for sale under any circumstances – even going as far as rejecting a £64 million bid from Chelsea.

They have been almost powerless when watching some of their most integral and influential players (Antoine Semenyo, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez, to name a few) depart in recent years, so you can understand the board standing firm over Scott.

He played a major role in the Cherries securing European qualification for the first time in their history upon the culmination of 2025/2026, and new manager Marco Rose wanted to ensure the England youngster stuck around to feature prominently in their Europa League campaign.

What Fernandes had to say about Scott

After collecting his PFA Player of the Year award last week, United’s skipper was asked to name a player who he anticipated could make the 2026/2027 Team of the Season.

Fernandes told the Beast Mode On podcast: “There’s always a lot… there’s one player I really like, and that is Alex Scott from Bournemouth.”

“You always know the big teams get looked at a little bit more than other teams but I think what he did last season was great, and I think he’s someone who could easily be up for that.”

It remains to be seen if United would look to revive their interest in Scott, 23, next year – perhaps if Manuel Ugarte is finally sold once he returns from injury and drives his value up more.
