Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has revealed he is fully committed to the club despite previously being linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Haaland has made an imperious start to the Premier League season, scoring 16 goals as City look to wrestle their crown back from Liverpool.

The Norwegian has proven a superb signing for the Cityzens and recently celebrated scoring his 100th league goal for the Manchester giants following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

The 25-year-old signed a new deal with City to tie him to the Etihad Stadium until 2034 back in January, which removed rumoured clauses that could only be activated by Real Madrid.

"The information I have is that there is an exit clause for Haaland in the second year, and the curious thing is that it has very beneficial conditions compared to the rest for one club, which is Real Madrid,” former Los Blancos President Fernando Sanz told Spanish TV show El Chiringuito.

However, Haaland has reaffirmed his commitment to City ahead of their Champions League meeting with Real Madrid.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast about City’s long-term expectations, the Norway international said: “Exactly, and that's the reason that I also signed it because of conversations that I've had with the bosses and also the plan in the next years, and that was something I wanted to be a part of.

“And yeah, I'm calm, I'm focused, and I'm really happy here, so it's a really good place to be for development and also in the end, England, it's a football country, and I think it's the best place to play football.”

One of the reasons Haaland moved to City was because of the chance to work with legendary manager Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard took over as City boss in 2016, and had won numerous pieces of silverware during a trophy-laden spell in Manchester.

Striker's Man City future not linked with Guardiola

Guardiola recently signed a new contract at City, tying him to the club until 2027, though Haaland insists that his future isn’t look to the 54-year-old.

“I mean, he signed a new contract, was it before or after me? I'm not sure. But I knew he was staying for another year or another year and a half, with his contract right now,” Haaland said when discussing Guardiola’s future.

“But most of the conversations were with his bosses and my boss as well, because I remember my father said when I was really, not young, but like 10 years ago, he said like, 'Never go to a club because of the manager', which sometimes can be difficult. But also, you never know what's going to happen in the modern world.

“But again, Pep was a big reason why I came to City, of course, to work with him and to be able to experience him and his special ways and his hard work and all of these things. So it's kind of a mix there.”

City travel to Real Madrid having won their last three games and have closed the gap at the top of the Premier League table to just two points.

And they’ll hope to maintain the pressure on league leaders Arsenal when they take on Crystal Palace at the weekend.
