Manchester United are showing the strongest interest of any Premier League club in Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu, 26, as the Reds continue their audit of the centre-back market ahead of 2027.

That’s according to Fussball News, whose report was relayed by The Peoples Person. The outlet claims United have already sent scouts to Italy on several occasions to run detailed assessments on the Frenchman.

Why United are looking again at the back line

United have shipped six goals in three Premier League games this season, with Harry Maguire no longer young and Matthijs de Ligt sidelined since last December. INEOS spent the summer window rebuilding midfield rather than defence, and that gap is starting to show.

Kalulu has featured at both centre-back and right-back for Juventus, and that versatility is part of what makes him a lucrative option. He has started every minute of the Bianconeri’s three league games so far this season, exclusively at right-back.

Rivals circle as Juventus set their price

United aren’t alone here. Fussball News names Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa as fellow suitors, while Liverpool have reportedly been monitoring Kalulu’s situation for some time.

Juventus, according to the same report, have no intention of selling but could be tempted by an offer in the €45-50m region, with performance bonuses and a sell-on clause potentially forming part of any structure. Crucially, the report stresses no official bid from any Premier League club has landed at the Allianz Stadium yet.

The Peoples Person itself rates the story only 4/10 for credibility, noting that United have generally preferred Premier League-proven signings of late and that it’s too early to assume INEOS are actively planning a 2027 move.

Whether scouting turns into concrete talks will likely hinge on how Kalulu’s situation at Juventus develops over the coming months, and on how urgently United’s own back-line issues force their hand.
