Fulham in talks to sign third Real Madrid player before transfer deadline

Real Madrid will not see much movement before the transfer window closes later this week, but there will still be business done – particularly when it comes to La Fabrica. A number of signings and sales have already been made in relation to Castilla, and in the next couple of days, another could be on their way to the Premier League.

Since taking over as Fulham head coach, Alvaro Arbeloa has made it clear that he wants to be reunited with several of his former players at Real Madrid/Castilla. The Premier League side have already signed Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios, and now, a third player could be on his way to Craven Cottage before the transfer deadline.

Earlier in the summer, Manuel Angel was identified as one of the players Arbeloa wanted to sign, and it’s now been reported by The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath that Fulham have stepped up plans to secure the services of the 22-year-old midfielder.

Real Madrid willing to offload Angel before deadline

Angel, whose seven appearances for Real Madrid have all come under Arbeloa, is one of the players that has outgrown Castilla but is not considered good enough for the first team. Thus, it makes a lot of sense for him to be offloaded, and the prospect of being reunited with his former manager is one that the La Fabrica graduate will surely jump at.

Real Madrid are unlikely to command a high fee for Angel, although they will surely look to include a significant sell-on clause and/or buy-back option in any agreement, given this formula is always followed when it comes to departing La Fabrica talents. Fulham are certainly well-placed to win this race, although they are racing against time to ensure that a deal can be done before the summer transfer window closes later this week.
